Mission:
Blooming Friendships
Location: Quarters, Starbase 332
[ON]
Thanks to some help S'er'in'e bed was finally being fabricated and he was told it would be installed into his Quarters within a few hours, this gave him ample oppertunity to unpack what little he brought with him but also to send a gift of thanks as per his castes requirements.
One problem he faced however was not knowing Steiner, Human Female yes but aside from that and her name he knew nothing. This left him slightly puzzled as to what a suitable gift would be to convey his thanks for her help.
"Computer, show me suggested gifts of gratitude and thanks aimed towards a Human Female."
Scores of images filters one by one across the screen he was looking at, it didn't take long for his eyes to feel itchy and sting from prolonged staring. He needed something quickly and didn't have time to peruse the Promenade at the wares they had there. When in a situation like this S'er'in'e had the habit of pacing, it helped him think. Help it did as he stared at a container for a while, inside were flowers he'd brought with him from Cait. A friend had picked these flowers as a parting gift just before boarding the shuttle off the Homeworld. Opening the container he saw they were well and just fine, this would make the ideal gift.
He signaled for a rating to drop by and collect the container, not giving a true description as to its contents as he knew well that Humans especially had over-talkative tendencies when it came to things happening between people, especially a male and female. Instructing that it be delivered to her directly he wanted to make sure the delay was at best, minimal.
After receiving an 'emergency' call, Ens. Steiner ran out of the turbolift towards her quarters. Her pesky friend and new shadow Jasmine stood by the door, playfully swaying in a big grin. "I didn't open it!"
Corrine took on a pained expression, "What? You said there was an emergency and that I had to come right away."
Her Ops assistant held out the canister. "It smells beautiful!"
"I thought you didn't open it."
"Well, I might have cracked it slightly. Come on, Corrie! I'm dying to see!"
Steiner growled in frustration at the false alarm. She pulled the container top off and an exotic bouquet of flowers poured over the sides. She set it on the floor, took a couple steps back, and nodded, "Ferengi schooze flowers." She pulled out a No. 3 laser probe. "Okay, okay. Choople just doesn't take hints. So after I incinerate these, he is next!"
"Nononono! They're beautiful! And you don't who sent them!"
"Well who else?"
"I tell you what... why don't we do something incredibly novel and intelligent and look at the card!"
"Smartalec."
Crewman Jasmine pulled the card, "It's not Choople!"
Corrie drew close, more than a little surprised. "Are you sure they're for me? Maybe they got mis-delivered."
"No it's..." Her eyes widened. Jasmine referred to her wrist computer to name search among the thousands. "Whoah!"
Corrie grit her teeth, "Jaz, who IS it?"
Her 'friend' began laughing with very wide eyes, "Why you vamp!"
With a growl, Corrie grabbed the card.
To Miss Ensign C. Steiner.
I would like to convey my thanks and gratitude for your assistance in obtaining the item I sought earlier. I am unfamiliar with Human customs but with that in mind, and at the suggestion of the station computer, I hope you find these acceptable.
These flowers are from my Homeworld, if properly cared for they should blossom at least twice more each time a different colour.
My Gratitude.
S'er'in'e.
P.S, I was informed a card such as this is customary, I hope I have fulfilled the custom correctly.
Jasmine read over her shoulder, "What item?"
"A bed."
"A BED? Corrie!! Xnay the subtlety?"
Again, Corrine growled, "Jaz! The man is seven feet tall and he needed bed! All I did was de-bureaucrafy the process!"
"Uh huh, uh huh... Well that's not what he thinks!"
"And just how do you know? This note is very formal. It's so formal it's Vulcanesque!"
Jasmine pointed with a big grin, "Look how he signed it. He's a mo-rine, and he didn't put his rank. He just put his name! Mister lion is in Luuuuuv with you, babe!"
"Stop it! He is not! He's being an courteous officer!"
"Corrie! This is your chance! You're all set. You've already got the bed. You don't even need to worry about blankets. He's a built-in warm fuzzy blanket, and he probably has a massage purr, too!"
Unable to take any more, Corrie tackled Jasmine in pure exasperation. Finally giving up at attempts to damper her prankster pest, she groaned and picked up the flowers. They truly impressed her, some appearing like iridescent silk. She took a deep sniff, after which her eyes crossed and she staggered. Her friend caught her, "Whoah... gotta be careful with the xeno-blooms, hon."
"No kidding! Wow!"
On her way into her cabin, she turned and gestured out her hand. "No! I know you spend more time in my cabin than in your own, but I do NOT have a roommate!"
The door slid close, after which Jasmine leaned against it and called out, "Looks like one is available if you want one!" There was the thud of something impacting the other side of the door.
Crew-woman Jasmine had to hurry off. She had so much work to do, and if the entire female population of the starbase was to be informed that Corrine Steiner had a new lion, she had to get cracking.
