Akiashiro Dinner

Mission:
By Dawn's Early Light
Location: Elder's Apartment :: Akiashiro Deck 1403
It was getting late by time standard on the station as it moved into the night cycle that governed the station daily life of those that lived there. Samanthia finished changing into the more traditional Kimono outfit that Tamarue liked to wear along with the other ladies of the Akiashiro clan at a formal dinner gathering. She smiled as she would be showing off her mate S'er'in'e. But there would be the worry that him being Fleet would ruffle a few feathers. She let her hair hang free and loose down her back instead of putting it up like the other Akiashiro women who were infighting for places of honor between them.
Unsure of how S'er'in'e would be treated, she spoke up, "Ser? Even though you feel honored to continue your service with Fleet. It would be nice for you to wear a traditional Caitain Garb." She smiled at her mate with a hopeful smile, but letting him make the final choice in what he wanted to wear.
Opening his storage S'er'in'e pulled out his gold and green traditional two piece outfit. "As you wish." He smiled, secretly he hoped she would give some indication as to what would be suitable in light of this being the first encounter with a majority of the Akiashiros. He groomed his fur to make sure everything was in place, the golden ear tips clean and affixed, brushed his tail once he'd slipped it through the hole at the waist of his trousers, lastly came the jacket
"You look elegant my Mate." He spoke as he looked her over. "I admit I like you hair better down than up." Then an idea came to him. "You should see if the Homeworld can make you that attire with Caitian materials."
"What a wonderful idea," Samanthia smiled at him, "I'll have to get some of the material I bought on Cait to make into a kimono. I could have the tailors make one for you in the masculine cut." Oh she would be the envy of the Akiashiro women, once they felt the material. She loved it as it had a pleasant feeling against her skin. Then helped him with his attire under his guidance. "Ready to go meet the 'family'?"
"You, are the only family I need." He gently cupped her face and in drawing his whiskers flush to his cheeks he leaned forward and gently kissed her. There was still a very slight shake of the hands from making her gloves but he was more worried about his claws marking her perfect skin especially before an important event. He had seen others kiss such, not quiet understood the depth of it until he did it. An act of sublime gentleness, tenderness and love, he tried something different to show his affection to his Mate in a way he'd seen other Humans do.
Samanthia returned the kiss with passion, pleased that he was adapting and learning the more human way of kissing. Even though she enjoyed the brushing of cheeks, ignoring his big furry clawed armed paws grasping her head and the slight shake in his hand paws. She whispered softly, "My Husband, Mate." With a breathlessness from the kiss. Maybe she would teach him more about intimacies of making love, but time was getting away from them. "We'll have time to play later." Softly as she stepped away from him, taking one of his big paw-like hand in hers. She gave him a gentle yet firm paw massage, working her fingers in between his finger/toes and claws to stimulate the healing process.
S'er'in'e smiled, it seemed his effort was well received. "Lets." He smiled as he held her hand and followed her out of home towards where the family dinner was scheduled to be. He noted she called him 'Husband', while he took it well and as it was meant he wondered yet again on the complexities of Human relationships. Something he would ask about when the time permitted. He couldn't hide the pride he felt though, her he was with his Mate all dressed up to present themselves to the family.
The direction wasn't towards the Center of the station, but outward towards the edge where the hallway became paneled with wood shined to a gloss and highlighting the woods natural pattern. Coming to a door that swung open on silent hinges, not slid to the side with a whoosh of pneumatics. Reviling a very ornate lobby.
Samanthia slid off her sandals and paced them on a shelving that held other shoes of varying sizes. From farther into the apartment, voices rose and fell as conversation flowed around many subjects.
The rooms were decorated in a strong oriental fashion. The Akiashiros all sat in according of prestige they've earned. Tamarue sat next to her husband, looking noble over their fiefdom. Next to her was Megan Akiashiro, who was a bit chubby from her work and didn't get much exercise. Aikiko, was beautiful and spent a lot of time maintaining her looks and had a trace of make up to enhance her looks and a more form fitting kimono than her sister and mother. On Raphiel's side were the men. Eric, whom S'er'in'e had met for the interview for a job with Akiashiro Security. Nyubi was wiry and had the scarred hands of a tech even though they was scrubbed clean. Then there was Frederick, He could pass almost for a Sumo Wrestler and had a more jovial expression on his face.
They stood when S'er'in'e and Samanthia entered into the room. Tamarue scurried forward to greet them both with a smile. "I see you didn't have to be carried kicking and screaming, Daughter." Turning towards S'er'in'e, "We welcome you to our humble home...." She then proceeded to introduce the Family. Then she took her spot next Raphiel and sat. Then everyone else sat back down on their floor pillows after Samanthia and S'er'in'e took their seat on their floor pillows.
Raphiel studied them both with wisened eyes. "S'er'in'e, Welcome to the family. I heard you applied to become part of the corporation as Security. We could use a person of your caliber. You still interested in that job?"
"Thank you." S'er'in'e answered Tamarue. He directed his attention to Raphiel, noting the effort to correctly pronounce his name this time. Part of him wondered if Tamarue had mentioned something from the earlier conversation. "Captain Von didn't submit my resignation due to delays from duties. Instead she offered me a new position and a promotion, Major and Commander Air Group of this station." He wondered what favours would be expected of him in light of this role to suit the Akiashiros. "However during my free time and Mate permitting, I can make myself available."
Raphiel gave a soft chuckle, looking at S'er'in'e as Tamarue just beamed with delight. "I'm sure we'll have plenty to discuss in the future. Maybe a hint or two of which way Fleet is leaning." Giving a glance at Aikiko. "Aikiko here is our liaison with Fleet."
Aikiko nodded to S'er'in'e, "Greetings S'er'ine-san," She spoke in a well modulated voice, that was pleasant to hear. "Welcome to the Clan." She showed some interest in him.
Megan kept quiet and listened, awaiting her turn. But it seams that Raphiel was more interested in the strengthening ties with Star Fleet.
"Frederick helps Samanthia run Warp-12. Where he is Master Chef unless his other duties require him elsewhere." Raphiel spoke, giving S'er'in'e a brief run introduction of the family. "Nyubi here is the Senior Tech for the level. Any additions or changes will go through him. We like to keep limited access to our level to avoid a lot of trouble that faces the station, since Fleet making its presence more known in this sector. I'm sure Samanthia gave you the rundown on that." He gave a glare at Samanthia, hoping she wasn't making a fool of him.
"I've alerted him to carry the Akiashiro ID till he becomes more well known as my husband. And has full access to my apartment." She spoke pleasantly as she had scooted her floor pillow closer to S'er'in'e. "Besides, the other Caitian aboard the station is to busy to even come down here."
Raphiel nodded.
It was handy to know who all the players were in the game, and it was a game, just one he was going to have to get used to. As to the hints that were mentioned he was unsure exactly what they meant but time would tell on that one. "Indeed she did." He spoke backing up his Mate's response.
As expected for a first time meeting the family S'er'in'e was very self aware of himself and his surroundings, hints of this given away by twitching ears at sounds, his whiskers flaring more than usual and his tail sweeping behind him slightly. It was hard at times to not appear intimidating, especially when even seated he was much taller than everyone in the room. "I will have my fighter transferred from the deck to the combat hanger in the morning." He turned to Samanthia. "Unless you wish to use it for personal transport?"
Flashes of looks of surprise to a bit of jealously at S'er'in'e's offer flickered around the room. Samanthia felt very pleased at the offer. But she was more used to shuttles that the more complicated aerospace fighter crafts. "You keep it. Ser. And move it where ever you desire." She leaned against him to show her appreciation at the offer, getting sly looks of jealously from Megan and from Eric and Raphiel. She whispered just loud enough for S'er'in'e, "I'd move it before Eric and crew decide to take a real closer look at your craft."
Tamarue looked very pleased at the way S'er'in'e deferred to Samanthia. Wishing her husband Raphiel was just as considerate. Raphiel rolled his eyes. Tamarue gave Raphiel a playful slap. "Behave." Getting a snicker from the menfolks.
Raphiel looked at his wife, "Be careful woman, I can always demote you to Second Wife." Tamarue subsided into a more demure attitude.
A set of doors opened with a waft of food heralding dinner was about to be serve. In came the servants carrying tables that were perfect height for eating off while sitting on the floor. Atmosphere changed slightly in a more relaxed atmosphere as the tables where set with cutlery. A special set, recently made just for S'er'in'e was placed before him, to include chopsticks. Then food was served to each table along with drinks.
S'er'in'e made a mental note to have the fighter moved as soon as edicate allowed they leave, he didn't want prying eyes glancing over that which they shouldn't, assuming they already hadn't. S'er'in'e noticed the looks many were giving though most fell on inexperienced eyes, something he'd talk to Samanthia about afterwards so that he had a better understanding of what was going on. He was not overly fond of how Raphiel spoke to Tamarue, a male treating a female thus, however while knowing that every family was different and not Caitian he kept silent knowing the importance of the family was to his Mate.
The conversation turned more to the various things happening around the Starbase and what was happening within the family and Samanthia's trip to Cait, while they ate. Some using chopsticks as others used the cutlery. Food was at it's best and well prepared for the meeting with S'er'in'e.
"So, S'er'in'e." Raphiel spoke, looking at the big Cait, next to Samanthia. "What made you decide to keep serving in Fleet? When you had a more lucrative job offer lined up?"
S'er'in'e thought for a moment on a suitable answer. "That would depend on your perception of lucrative I believe. I do not require nor seek wealth, I do not need or accumulate material objects, nor strive to gain status or position. I have all that I need right here." His tail partially wrapped Samanthia's waist, only partly given the space between them. " He smiled at Samanthia before returning his attention back to Raphiel. "To serve something greater than ones self is an honour, I have served in some capacity or another all my life, it is what I was raised to do and trained to do as my sheaths denote. Starfleet has been my home for some time and while I do no doubt the influence and scale of your clan it boils down that in one way or another you need Fleet as much as they need you. I am sure you are smart enough in that Starfleet wouldn't let a faction gain suitable military assets to pose a threat to themselves or others, so you use them to do the grunt work. While that leaves yourself to focus other pursuits and it never hurts to have closer ties to the other side of the proverbial coin."
He sipped his drink before he continued. "It also boils down to trust, you trust me to do no harm to my Mate, a member of your family, I trust you to respect our union and do nothing to interfere in it." If anything, that was a give away that S'er'in'e knew of Raphiels interest in Samanthia. "Wealth and importance play different roles in our lives, lucrative is just the same."
Raphiel nodded. "Have no worry about Samanthia. She's proven herself to be quite an asset to the family in running a very lucrative lounge. I don't know much about the other place down on the lower deck. But from I've seen. She's turning a profit there also. You have a good woman at your side. Which speaks highly in favor of you." Having studied up on Caitian Dietary needs and what alcoholic drinks they could consume without detrimental effects, except to get them drunk. A Bottle of the finest appeared and was poured into wine glasses and passed out by the servant. "Here's to the newest member of our family. S'er'in'e. May the Deities smile upon you with good fortune."
The rest of the family all stood when Raphiel did to give his toast. Samanthia stood also, facing her Big Caitian Mate. "and Good Health." They all drank at the same time.
S'er'in'e joined in the toast while giving his Mate a loving and caring look even as he sipped his drink, not breaking eye contact as he did so flowing with love and warmth for her. "Us."
"Us," Samanthia whispered back with a smile as then faced Raphiel and Tamarue. The others had moved off to gather their things in preparation to leave. "Thank you once again for a delicious meal."
Tamarue moved to them along with Raphiel, "It's a pleasure to have you both at a meal. And hearing of a new culture."
Raphiel nodded. "We must get together and have drink or two, S'er'in'e. A gentleman's night out."
S'er'in'e nodded. "I look forward to it." He smiled then turned his attention back to his Mate. "Is there anyone else you wish to speak to before we depart?"
Samanthia smiled, "It was a lovely meal. You've outdone yourself." Then turning to S'er'in'e, "None at the moment." Giving Raphiel a quick bow, she turned and headed back to the exit to were her sandals were at.
