Treatment Starts

Posted on Sat Apr 16th, 2016 @ 1:13am by Colonel S'er'in'e & Samanthia Akiashiro & Lieutenant Commander David Deschanel M.D.

Mission: Brave New World
Location: SB-332

Samanthia paced back and forth, having second doubts about having the treatment to insure a better chance at having children sired by S'er'in'e. She wasn't sure if he would show up or be detained by some business meeting, training regimen or just plain forgot. It was nice with his comforting presence and wanted to share each moment with him. She could see in his eyes that he enjoyed being around her as she gave him his space when he needed it. Other patience in the waiting room and lobby glared at her nervous pacing.

S'er'in'e had made it an unavoidable task to attend, even if Samanthia was unaware of his intentions and when the doors opened he walked in slightly ducking through the door to enter. This was something he would not miss out on, it effected her just as much as it did himself, it was important to the both of them. When he walked in though it seemed the attention of most shifted from Samanthia whom he saw standing in the waiting room to himself, which he often expected when entering a room. "Is something troubling you my Mate?" He asked softly as he came to a stop next to her.

"Just nervous is all," Samanthia reached out and moved to him to embrace him. "Just awaiting on the Doc. It seams something came up."

"Hello again," David said as he stepped out into the central reception area. "Sorry to keep you waiting, I was just collecting the first batch of supplements from the lab. If you'll come with me?" Waiting a moment for the two for the two of them to start following, he led them through into his office.

"Hi," Samanthia greeted the doctor when he made his presence known and listened to what he had to say. Then she followed him, holding S'er'in'e big pawlike hand in hers. She followed him through the infirmary. She was nervous, but putting up a brave front knowing the treatment will tweak her chromosomes. She took the offered seat as S'er'in'e did his thing, looking fierce yet, tempered with softness as he stood slightly behind her.

"I take if you're both still willing to go ahead with the treatment, and you've considered all of the things we spoke about yesterday?" he asked, as they entered the private room and the door shut behind them. He moved to sit behind his desk and placed the case he had been carrying on top of it. He gathered by their presence here that they were still all set to go ahead, but it never hurt to double check with something like this.

She listened to what he had to say and responded with a nod. "Yes. I am." Tone confident, yet tinged with nervousness.

S'er'in'e listened to what was being said as he stood slightly behind and to the right of his Mate, confident she was in her choice and one accepted by both having talked about the implications of what a pregnancy would mean for both of them.

"In that case then," the doctor said, opening the case and retrieving an empty hypospray from his desk to place in the open gap in the foam. The case already had seven vials of a dark orange liquid in their own respective gaps in the foam. He shut the case again and slid it across the desk to them. "These are your first week's worth of supplements. You should take them once a day, preferably after your evening meal. The hormonal response to your libido will kick in fairly quickly - usually about an hour after you take the supplement. The longer you stay on them, the more sustained the effect will be. There will come a stage where your body is simulating an 'in-heat' phase for the entire day. By that time, your body will have made the necessary adjustments to make conception possible."

"Is there anything I am required to do, medication, preparation, considerations from a male perspective Doctor?" He wondered if there was anything he could do but also notice in light of a felines sense of smell.

Samanthia went pale seeing the hypospray and froze as she just stared at the case as if it was going to jump up and attack her. "Huh.. is there a-anyway I ... can take the treatment in... another form.." Her voice was squeaky and uneven. "Oh...som.." swallowed nervously, "someone do...it fo.or me?" This was the last thing she had expected and forgot about.

S'er'in'e looked down at his seated Mate concerned by the sudden change in stance from her.

David pulled the case back across to his side of the desk as he saw Samanthia's expression change. "I can have the computer gelatinise supplements into a pill form, but the strength would have to be increased to stop your stomach acids breaking it down too much," he said. "They would also take longer to take effect. If you're uncomfortable with hyposprays, we can administer it for you, or I can instruct the Colonel here on how to administer it?" It wasn't too uncommon for people - even Federation citizens for whom the devices had been standard forms of issuing medication for over a century - to have a phobia of hyposprays. It usually stemmed from a similar fear of needles, back when they were seen as the most effective way of getting drugs into the bloodstream. Even though modern technology had moved away from piercing somebody's skin with a metal tube, the idea still seemed to seat itself uncomfortably in the human psyche. "If you would rather we not use a hypospray at all, then I would rather we look at the pills. Anything that increases your stress level is likely to have a negative affect on the chances of conception."

"Pills will work just fine," Samanthia color and confidence returning once the retreat of the case began by Doctor Dechanel. "It would be perfect. I should've suggested it in the previous meeting, Doc." Giving him a faint smile as her eyes darted between him and the case.

"It's not a problem," David answered, standing and taking the case with him over to the replicator. He began keying in the sequence to convert the liquid vials into gelatine pills. He had to up the dose, but his files for Samanthia's specific blend of the supplements was still open and so it was a quick process for the computer to enact. While he worked at setting the computer in motion, he answered the Colonel's earlier question. "As for you Colonel, your primary responsibility to begin with - aside from the obvious - is to make sure that Ms Akiashiro here has as stress-free environment as possible. It'll become more important once she conceives, but by establishing that environment now, it'll make it far easier for her as things develop."

The replicator completed its ministrations with a swirl of blue particles, replacing the vials with seven translucent pills in a far smaller case. The larger case - which David had emptied when he placed the vials in the replicator - he placed on a shelf holding others that were almost identical. He pocketed the hypospray in his lab coat, and moved back to the desk, closing the pill case as he went and handing it to Samanthia. "The same advice goes for these - once a day, after your evening meal. That will help you digest them into your bloodstream. The rate at which it will take effect will vary depending on how much you've eaten and the consistency of your meal, but will typically be between two to three hours."

Samanthia took the case with the pills in it. "Take with evening meal. Got it, Doc," Giving him a warm friendly smile. She secured the case.

S'er'in'e listened to the Doctor's orders, he had to keep his Mate relaxed, calm and stress free. He was confident he could do that to some form or way as the need arose. "Thank you Doctor." It seemed the appointment was concluded, they had what they came for and all they needed now is time. Together Samanthia and S'er'in'e departed Sickbay and S'er'in'e deep in thought about what the future held......
