S'er'in'e left the Captain's Office still slightly perplexed about the entire ordeal, he expected worse and walked out with a promotion. That promotion though now that he was alone with his thoughts paid with the lives of those that didn't come back, he knew in war there would always be casualties, lives lost and taken against the wills of others but it was in the past now thus little he could do about it now. While in the Turbolift down to what he called home he wondered about Samanthia, after everything was said and done she openly stood by him but what lay ahead was unknown because it would be just his Mate and himself within the privacy of home, where anything could happen or come out. He fixed the new rank to his collar and looked at the old Major ones now placed in the box, he had the other boxes in storage as momentoes of his career and he'd have to inform the Caste Overseer about this development so it can be recorded. First thing was first though...
Samanthia.
He paused outside the door to home just outside the sensors to permit him entry, he wondered what would happen, very little had been said after what happened. He stepped forward and the doors opened.
Samanthia sat in her chair, curled up, as she was going through her class notes from the courses she was taking on Arca IV. With one course to finish still. She was behind due to the interruption the Sojourners untimely attack on the starbase. She was wrapped up in her light blue fluffy bathrobe, intent on her studies. She glanced briefly at the door, seeing the S'er'in'e entering. She looked at him with a warm soft expression. She had a pencil behind her ear.
He saw her busy but more importantly to him was she was there, his past had come and done a cruel thing to her and while he may have saved her, he was ultimately the cause. He could see faintly still the wounds on her neck from the ordeal, as apologetic as he was it didnt make things right. "Am I disturbing you?" His tone soft which in turn brought out the more feline tones to it.
"You can never disturb me, My love," Samanthia stood up after she put the book on the coffee table before her chair. She moved to him looking him over. She met him as she embraced him. She was smelling freshly washed. And a bit of his fur shampoo, underlying her usual scented shampoo.
S'er'in'e held her perhaps a little tighter than normal, part of him was fill with relief while the other with worry that this would be the last embrace. He picked her up and lowered his head slightly so that his muzzle sat beside her neck and shoulder drawing in her scent. Long deep breaths repeatedly while his hold still firm. "I worried about you, about us after..."
"Shshsh... It was bound to happen," She whispered softly into his ear. "I'm glad you're here." She held onto him, liking the tight hold upon her. And how easily he picked her up. "I am sorry I ordered you to do it. It scares me of what I have being your mate, wife." She buried her face into his neck fur as she held onto him.
"You only have to ask." Which is simply true, as the Male he was subservient to her needs and wants. He'd follow her every request willingly. After a few minutes of just standing there holding her he slowly lowered her to her feet wondering perhaps being held so tightly might be uncomfortable after a while. "I have something for you." He tail brought forward the box, he'd given it to his tail before he picked her up, within lay his old rank.
She took the box and looked at the content, then up to his color of the uniform. Seeing the silver leaf there she smiled, "Congratulations!" She smiled up at him, warmly. "Lieutenant Colonel. I am really happy for you!" She hugged him again.
Again he held on to her, his very world and reason for being right here in his arms. "Does Raphiel know?" He asked. He was an outsider to the family and one that nearly cost them a valued and respected member of the family.
"Yes, but not the promotion," Samanthia snuggled against him, enjoying being with. She felt safe within his embrace. "We had a chat about it. I'm more scared of myself than you. Or getting kicked from this level. I am mated to you as you're to me, willingly till death claims us." She leaned back to look into his eyes.
"I doubt he is that foolish to punish you for the actions of someone else, I will speak with him if you wish it, address the situation that it was beyond your doing or control." He didn't like people making his Mate worry, he'd try to settle it and put her at ease. He looked down upon her with his blue eyes ringed by black fur.
"He knows where I stand. And I know whose bed I share. I wouldn't give you up, Ser. Not when I'm committed to have our children." Samanthia spoke softly as she looked at him. "I told him, I'm keeping you." she spoke solemnly, then a smile broke out with a soft laugh. She buried her face against his chest. She shook with laughter as she held onto him.
"Keeping me are you?" He replied playfully picking her up and walking to the bedroom. "Well...." He tossed her onto the bed. "Keeper of Caitians, dress yourself and we shall have something to eat." He growled at her playfully as he himself grabbed something to change into.
She gave a 'eeek' of surprise at the toss and laughed even harder when she bounced on the bed. She scrambled off the bed and letting the bathrobe drop from her. She reached and put one of the soft exotic Caitian style of dress, Altered to fit her human physique. It was black in color and shimmered blue in the light. She slipped into the Caitian style of multi-purpose slippers, once again hand crafted to fit her feet, instead of a paw-like feet that Caitians have. She left her hair loose. It was nice to have someone sharing her bedroom and bumping into, occasionally getting in the way of each other. Several times she had to swat Ser's frisky tail away from her for if she allowed it. Dinner would be forgotten.
Once dressed S'er'in'e gave himself one final check in the mirror to ensure his presentable appearance. He turned to see his Mate impressively dressed. "You look beautiful." He was still getting used to the whole concept of Human compliments, he had often to think that he was using it correctly, in the right context and the right word choice. "Have you somewhere in mind to eat or shall we walk and see what takes your interest?" He gave her a once over from head to toe surprised that Caitian garb fitted and suited her so well.
"I am leaving that up to you." She looked him. He looked very impressive. "You are very handsome, My Mate. Let us stroll and see what offered on the Promenade." She didn't know who would be showing off whom. But she knew she had made a good choice. She admired him, looking up at him. "Mmmmine!"
He smiled as he looked down on her. "Always." The soft upside of his hand gracing her cheek. "Let's go."
