Settling In

Posted on Wed Oct 20th, 2010 @ 7:24pm by Lieutenant JG Allison Price

Mission: Ten Little Diplomats
Location: Deck 847
Timeline: MD01 1715 hrs

Cadet Price checked the room assignment on her PADD one last time before pressing the control to open the door. She had been studying the station layout for quite sometime before she arrived, and was confident that she had found the right room. Still, some fear in the back of her mind kept telling her that she was about to walk in one of the senior officers, even though none of them lived anywhere close to Deck 847. All she could think is that she was going to do something to screw up her first day on board.

The turbolift ride down to the visiting crew quarters was remarkably fast considering the sheer number of decks that it had to cover. That was fortunate for Allie since it left less time for her to get nervous. She was about to move in to her new home, the place where she was going to live and work for the foreseeable future. It was a big step for the young girl. Her family had lived all their life on Earth. Even when she was in San Francisco at the Academy, her family was just a transporter trip away. None of them had ever considered joining Starfleet. They all knew that it would be a big step for her when she finally left Earth, though they had hoped it would have been after her graduation. This opportunity was just too good for her to pass up.

She took a breath and pressed the door control. The door slid open with no fanfare, just a simple swoosh. Still, Allie knew that she was home. The room was small, though larger than her dorm back in San Francisco. There was not much in the way of furnishings; just a bed, desk, chair, replicator, and dresser. She somehow managed to get a room on the exterior of the station, giving her a beautiful view of the space surrounding the station, including Archa IV. Allie entered the room, excited to have a place of her own. After sixteen years of sharing a room with her sister, and two and a half years of living with a roommate at the Academy, a private room was a godsend.

She dropped her duffel bag on the floor and fell onto her bed. It was even more comfortable than her dorm bed. She closed her eyes. I can used to this, she thought with a smile.
