Mission:
Brave New World
Location: Replimat -Starbase 332
Timeline: Day after Long Day
Vorran approached the replimat with a container in hand. He was hoping to catch up with Austin and clear the air after the landing bay incident.
"No, but..." Austin sighed. "My point is it's still making coffee, even if it's not strong enough for you. That's personal preference, not a broken replicator," He explained to the Ferengi in front of him.
"Says you! Coffee that weak is a clear defect!" The Ferengi insisted.
"Look, it's up to Starfleet specifications, Nurk. I can't change it. Why don't you try an Americano instead? It's made with Espresso, has a bit more kick to it, huh?" He offered.
"COFFEE!" The Ferengi belted, before turning and leaving in a huff.
"IT IS COFFEE!" Austin yelled after him, clearly frustrated. "Small-lobed little..."
Vorran approached as the exchange came to an end. "He should have gotten a Raktajino." Vorran said
Austin turned to see who'd approached and chuckled a bit, "I was a little concerned offering him espresso, and you want to offer him raktajino? You really do want to destroy my station, don't you Vorran."
"About that...." Vorran held the container out towards Austin. "I made you hasperat souffle as a peace offering."
Austin accepted the container, eyeing the man suspiciously, "You think this will make everything better?" He asked, reaching over for a nearby fork and opening the container. "You think you can just make me a Hasperat Souffle and it all goes away?" He asked a he took a bite.
Austin made a face and a moment later his eyes started watering and pained smile appeared on his face, "Prophets, Vorran, this is perfect. How did you manage to make this like this?" He asked.
"My mother's recipe, the secret is an earth spice called cayenne pepper." Vorran replied
"You kiss your mother for me the next time you see her, okay?" Austin replied, taking another bite. "And yes, we're good. But I'm still going to call you the crash down king in conversation," He admitted.
Vorran chuckled. "I deserve that, my ship was a heap when I bought it years ago."
"You need a hand fixing it?" Austin offered, still shoveling down the Hasperat as fast as he could manage. "Why didn't the fleet get you a new one?"
"Fixing it will be a project, any help would be appreciated. I bought the ship before joining starfleet, with earnings from my first job." Vorran replied
Austin seemed to consider that for a moment, "That's respectable, Vorran. Not a lot of people do that sort of thing anymore," He admitted. He lifted the tray of Hasperat, "We're good, mister. You need help on the shuttle, you let me know. If any engineering equipment that you need to use just happens to get left in easy reach of your ship, feel free to use it. I'll get greasy too, when I can."
"I appreciate it. Anyways I have to get back to preparing for my students." Vorran replied.
With a wave, the two parted ways, a mutual understanding between the two of them, and Austin still happily mouth deep in the tray of Hasperat.
