Melissa continued to point out the items in her equipment from her days as an assassin. She needed the Chief of Security to be aware of his opponent. She picked up what appeared to be a .45 Caliber handgun. "USP .45 Custom Handgun, Complete with laser sight and silencer. Broken Spear made some improvements on it. We've used modern hyper-polymers in its construction. Light as a feather, but as strong as a d'k'tagh." She noted as she placed it on the table.

Davik nodded as the woman continued, sitting across from her as she stood beyond his desk. His arms were crossed, which normally signified being closed off, but the rest of his body language was welcoming and calm. What she'd told him, he'd barely blinked an eye to, other than a quick nod in the affirmative. He was grateful she had told him, but felt he didn't have any right to pry. As long as the captain was aware, which he appeared to be. He listened as she moved toward another weapon.

She drew a knife. "This is a replicated KA-BAR. I was offered a smaller knife, but I replicated this on Bajor. It's carbon-steel composition was easier to sharpen. Cutting someone's throat with this is effortless." She noted.

Davik leaned forward slightly to inspect the item. He wasn't that familiar with Bajoran weaponry or artistry, though he found he could appreciate the blunt simplicity of it. Almost as if the woman could sense his thoughts, she spoke. "Primitive yes, but Broken Spears prefer simplicity." She continued, "Do not consider this assassin a common criminal Lieutenant. Assassins have existed since Brutus killed Caesar. He's counting on you to make pre-conceived judgments about him, that way he can manipulate you. What better way to confuse law enforcement than to give them what they want; a lead that leads to more leads, each of them futile." She noted.

Davik parted his lips slightly in understanding.

Melissa spoke, "Broken Spear's mental conditioning wasn't perfect. They had managed to remove every last emotion from my mind, and turn me into a logical and calculating killer. But what they never could conceive, was that I could regain what was lost. First it started as anger toward the Cardassians, then it became pity for those who I killed, then it became remorse, as I looked back on whom I killed. It is one thing to sin, but to wake up one day and realize you've sinned, effects you in ways you cannot imagine." She noted.

The security chief's lips flattened slightly, but he remained silent as she continued.

She spoke, "I don't know if you could understand this, but I felt that Kris Valtan had to die. However, I also felt that I needed redemption. That was the day that the war ended." She spoke, "Think of it as ending one lifetime of death, in order to begin a new lifetime of redemption. I swore never to kill again, and that is a problem." She stated. "This assassin is too dangerous to be left alive."

"I would not tell you what I can perceive to understand about your past, Doctor," Davik started. "I'm not averse to killing. When it is necessary. I never used to be that way until I was joined, having the memories of a soldier in the truest of fashions changes things about you. Even if it's just a memory." He placed his hand over his stomach slightly as he stood up, regarding the array of weapons. "The Federation, however, frowns on it. The Captain would frown on it. This man, whoever he is, has obviously broken several Federation laws and has involved himself in Federation law by involving himself in Federation affairs. He can be tried and convinced and punished by Federation law. That does not include death."

Melissa spoke, "He'll activate his implant before that happens." She motioned just below her collarbone with her hand. "All Broken Spears carry an implant that releases a plasma energy discharge that completely vaporizes them. It can be removed, but it is a dangerous procedure that can only be preformed by a practiced physician." She activated a console. "The Implant connects directly to the spinal cord. I could remove it, but there is always a chance it can activate the implant and the man would vaporize right then and there."

"If you say you must hunt them down, activation of the implant would achieve the same goal as killing them. Is there information you wish from them? I doubt torture is an effective method of coercion."

Melissa spoke, "I'll be honest with you Lieutenant. I want this chapter of my former life resolved. I do not want to kill him or her, and I do not want this assassin to activate his or her implant. I want this individual to realize, like I did, how much of a tool assassins are for politics. I have no doubt in my mind that if I did not fake my own death ten years ago, I would've continued to be used. Assassins are valued commodities for any state, even the Federation. And even if I survived the Federation, there would've always been another government who would have need of my former skills. In a way, you become a slave to the corruption of empires."

"I understand your involvement with this, it is a necessary thing. Out of any of us, you are the only one who has this information. Nevertheless, it jeopardizes the safety of this station if you become concerned with reaching this assassin's inner emotions and attempting to connect with them on a personal level. Our main objective has to be capture." Davik sighed slightly.
