Seven Little Soldier Boys Chopping Up Sticks...

Posted on Sun Feb 13th, 2011 @ 4:11pm by Lieutenant Commander Melissa Daniels M.D. & Captain Alexander Gunning

Mission: Ten Little Diplomats
Location: Conference Room - Starbase 332
Timeline: MD03 1100

[ON]

Commander Krista Laren continued to walk with the guards. "Captain, this is pointless. If the Cardassians get the impression that we're hiding, they'll become more belligerent toward us at the negotiating table."

"Commander, I don't really care. As the adjunct to the Federation diplomatic party I have been left with no choice but to place you all into protective custody." The Captain stated. "We are offering the same choice to the Cardassians but let's put this bluntly. The negotiations are over for the time-being."

Laren spoke, "They are not over Captain. We are not going to bend over backwards for every extremist and radical that wants their agenda of violence brought to the forefront, and I do believe that our troubles with the Maquis are not over. I am going to speak with Ambassador T'Laarin about this Commander." She turned on her heel and walked toward the doorway.

Gunning shook his head as he watched her leave. A young woman in her late twenties. One of Starfleet's great upstarts she was famous for her stubbornness in even the bleakest situations. There won't be much of a conference if all the delegates are dead.

When she was barely through the doorway, a forcefield suddenly engaged. What happened next, would not be easily forgotten by the witnesses in the corridor.

[Medical Level - Sometime Later]

Melissa was in her office, preparing to sign another death report. "Computer, record death. Commander Krista Laren, 1106 Hours today, died of severe physical trauma. End record." She had piles of PADD's on her desk, trying to figure out who the Assassin was. "Computer, play through visual recordings."

She then noticed something, "Computer freeze playback." It was on the image of the Chinese Delivery Man that ran into Ambassador Meyers. "He used an epidermal hypospay to inject a time-delay sedative into her. Right when he helped her up."

"We've got to get after him! We could have him!" Davik said excitedly, his hand reaching for his comm-badge.

"You won't find him Lieutenant. He's probably had time to ditch that identity. And the disguise."

Tieran sighed and felt himself almost glaring at the Doctor. She wasn't being smug but he could almost feel a grudging sense of pride from within her that this perpetrator was continuing to evade them.

Suddenly, a chirp rang out through the office. The comm panel displayed the name of Captain Gunning. "I've just received word that the Exocets have picked up an unmanned shuttle that was launched illegally from the base. There's another one missing too." He looked obviously irritated by the information. "Any idea why that might be?"

Melissa tapped her combadge, "Let it go."

"So you think it was some sort of diversion?" The Captain asked.

Melissa responded, "Trust me, he is still here. The shuttle was merely meant to chide you Commander. He wants you to realize that you're not in control of your own base, so you can be goaded into rash action."

"Charming." Alex said, turning to look out the viewing port and tapping his commbadge. "Security, lock down all embarkation points on the station."

He returned his attention to the doctor. "I've had enough of this."
