Melissa continued to remove the stingers from the latest victim. Glinn Veerak Nar. Stung by literally thousands of Hornets that were beamed into the quarters.

"Report, Doctor." Gunning said over the communicator.

Melissa sighed, "He got another one." She mentioned. "One of the delegation's aides went to check on Glinn Nar. What he found was Glinn Nar surrounded by a swarm of Lykarian Hornets."

"Ouch." Was the only response Maddux could muster.

Melissa spoke, "Broken Spears will use poisonous insects and animal. Make no mistake. Anything to terminate the target, and solely the target."

A red alert klaxon sounded throughout the base. "Base security to Captain Gunning."

"Gunning, here." The Captain replied, fully prepared for the latest in a long line of disasters to befall his station. "Go ahead."

"We don't know how, but the security fields on the prison ship have dropped." The operator mentioned.

"Can you get them back?" He asked.

"We've managed to establish a forcefield at the docking port but there's no telling what they might be able to utilise on that ship to get it going again. It looks like they've already either neutralized or killed their guards. It's a mess down here."

"Acknowledged." The Captain said tersely.

Melissa spoke, "He's planned another distraction. He knows we're getting close. We're out of time. I have to hunt this Assassin down. But to do so, I have to remove become her again." Melissa noted.

"Reinhart's last status report put them at Bellatrix. Surely if we can neutralize the handler then we might be able to neutralize the assassin?" He said.

Melissa spoke, "It's the only way I can save those who are targeted Captain. I became Melissa Daniels because I managed to overcome Kris Valtan. I'll become her again willingly to save what peace there is between the Federation and the Cardassians."

"What does that mean for you?" He asked.

Melissa responded, "It means I'll have to kill.... but I do not want to."

Gunning sighed a considered sigh. She was right, of course. The only way to catch a Broken Spear seemed to be to have them pursued by one of their number. Still, it was not his wish to have her revert to something she had worked so hard to move away from. Something or someone that she no longer was.

"Get it done, Doctor." The Captain said. "You have all the resources available that you require. All you have to do is ask."

[OFF]
