Storm's Defence put into Operation

Mission: Weathering the Storm
Location: Deck 1-5
Timeline: 1 hour before storm contact [Backpost]

Vestara was last to set up the remaining ten collectors at the base of the Communications arrays as they will act like lightening rods. Working alongside her were a team of six operations officers and non officers, one is Lieutenant JG Danetria Andrakos-Roarke and another Lieutenant JG Liam Harrison.

"So which panel should we put this one Lieutenants?" Vestara asked.

"Don't forget me my dear," came Ensign Bennen Khai's voice as he was carrying a few cables and another collector.

Vestara slowly glanced over at Ben and gave him a 'you're crazy' expression that he laughed at. "Oh shut up."

"Make me, I dare you," Ben challenged with a grin.

She then turned to Liam and ignored Bennen, she couldn't really call the Joined Trill a friend as they argued and annoyed each other way too often. He kept putting advances at her and she hated it but she had to admit he was good looking but she'd never tell him that.

Liam looked up. "If you're done we have to connect the last collector to the shield generators. It's one of the few systems that can handle all the extra power."

Vestara nodded, pointed at Ben and glared.

Everyone present could see the Joined Trill open his mouth then closed it again as he was faced with Vestara's finger, Vestara nodded again then gestured to the local shield generator room. "But isn't it possible some lightning could breach the shields and impact the hull Lieutenant?" She asked.

"It's possible. If its just the lightning rods that are hit the energy would reinforce our shields." Liam replied.

"What about if it doesn't hit the rods?" Vestara asked. "We could put the connections to the portable generators into the hull plates to be like the rods?"

"We could do that but the portable generators are not designed to handle that much power they could overload and explode." Liam Replied

"Ok, I hope that hasn't happened before, the exploding part," Vestara said, "we can chain them so once one is full the generator becomes a conduit to the next. We need like hundreds and all of Operations on this." She smiled at Liam. "Could you look into putting a bank of PGs at the rods base so we can have a backup supply, while Bennen and I with most of the others will start putting them around the station."

Bennen smiled. "I think the drydock section will most likely receive additional impacts due to the size of it compared to the rest of the station and the bottom where the other rods are because the lightning could arc along the hull."

Vestara cringed. "I really hope that doesn't happen, cause we will have to chase it to where it ends to restore essentials should they get compromised."

"Indeed," Bennen said. "We better get started."

"Yeah." Vestara said and gestured to everyone. "Look out for each other and get it done, good luck. Call if you need help!"
