Mission:
The Pak'Leth Problem
Location: Sickbay
ON
Mignon was still getting used to being on a station and still settling in. While she did so, she had several things that needed to get done. One was to meet the Chief Medical Officer. She needed to meet her immediate superior and she needed to get her medical check-up. It would do little good for her to insist the crew keep up with their psychological evaluations if she herself wasn't keeping up.
So, she walked into sickbay and smiled at the nurse on duty. "Hi. I'd like to speak with Commander Daniels and I need to set up an appointment for my physical."
The Nurse Responded, "Let me see if the Doctor is available. One moment." A voice came from within the Medical Center.
"You stupid DOCTOR!!! We Pak'leth, We go." A voice rang out in the Medical Center.
A Pak'leth began walking out carrying another one of his crew. "No, you cannot go. He needs more treatment. "Humans; Stupid. Pak'leth; Smart. Pak'leth find things that make them go. Humans don't." He stated.
"Oh for the love of Pete." Melissa stated. as she gestured to her Nurse to block the door, she took the gesture immediately as Melissa loaded a hypospay. Completely oblivious to the Counselor's presence.
The Nurse spoke, "You're not walking out of this sickbay!" She stated, trying to block the Pak'leth.
"Stupid Human, you..." Melissa pressed the hypospay against the Pak'leth's neck.
"Take them both back to the examination rooms." She ordered. Melissa continued. "It's a miracle that the Pak'leth ever survived the evolutionary process. They're.... simply... stupid...."
"Stupid or simply ... single-minded?" Mignon asked with a half smile. "Sorry. Hi. I'm Mignon Mejia," she said, addressing the doctor.
Melissa responded, "Doctor Melissa Daniels, a pleasure. So, we're here for the usual checkup and physical?"
"Yep. And to meet you. I'm the new counselor."
Melissa nodded, "Ah, well there is not too much to know about me Counselor. I'm just a small town doctor in charge of a large starbase medical center." She noted. "Well now, lets see how you're fairing? Take a seat on the biobed."
"I think a small town doctor is just what a big starbase needs," Mignon said as she hopped onto the biobed. "I'm sure it makes your patients more comfortable."
She opened her tricorder. "Lets see, typical Betazoid Physiology. Hmm... Have you been checked for Telepathic Lobe Degenerative Disorder?"
"Not recently," Mignon confessed.
"I'd like to do another examination in a few months. Like Alzheimers, it's never too early to catch it. Especially with Betazoids in mid-life." Melissa noted.
"All right. I'll come in to get checked again," she promised.
Melissa nodded, "Alright, for a Betazoid in early mid-life. You're fit for duty. Try not to strain yourself too much with the heavy lifting involved wih Counselling. And it looks like we'll be seeing plenty of each other. " She smiled and held up a Lolypop. "And this is for you."
Mignon took the lollipop and grinned. "Lemon, my favorite. Thank you. I promise to be careful. But if I notice anything, I'll be sure to stop by. Or I may just pop in to see how you're doing."
Melissa chuckled. "I'll welcome that Counselor."
"Good. See you later!" Mignon said. She popped hr lollipop in her mouth and left.
