Mission: The Mystery Men of Mira
Location: MCO Office, Deck 121

::ON::

Candice knew who she was. And she loathed telling others about it. Reporting in was the one thing she just couldn't get her Brain wrapped around. Useless time spent in her opinion. She tossed her bags on her bunk and sorted out a few of her personal effects. The marine Captain had studied what she could find out about her new CO and this giant hunk of titanium floating in space on her trip to the station.. It was big. Her first assignment outside an active conflict zone. A break for her, even though she fought the assignment. A quick change into fatigues she brushed her Hair and headed out to the Marine command offices.

The Marine Major was leaning over his desk reviewing the latest plans submitted to him by his staff concerning several operational plans. Deep in thought he didn't notice the entrance of Corporal Myer.

"Sir, there's a Captain Rhodan here to see you." Some what startled he turned. "Very well Myer, send her in. And get down to the orderly room and pick up the latest duty rooster.. And try not to sneak up on anyone."

The captain entered his office, Tall and very serious. The Marine was dressed in the duty uniform of the day and looked ready and focused on getting to work. She snapped up a crisp salute and reported in. Gifford waved her down to a chair.

"Welcome Captain, to the 14th Battalion. I have been reading your file and it's apparent your not entirely in favor of being here at all. Can you explain this too me?" John would not beat around the bush with his officers...

"No sir, I much rather be back at my outpost. Please don't take any offense." She was calm and her voice firm and clear.

John offered her a mug of coffee, she grasped it and took a sip. "Our mission here will get you back in the saddle I assure you Captain. Your progression to command may not be as important to you, but it's vital to us here. I have given you Fox Company due to your combat experience, you will find a home there with experienced Marines."

"Your aware Sir I haven't commanded a company before."

"Yes, I'm aware. But we didn't promote you to Captain so you could finish your career as a Platoon leader. I'll be very honest with you. Time to start leading with your mind and not you brawn Candice. I don't need a lose cannon on the deck. Your extremely well educated and I need you to use those skills now."

"Yes Sir." This interview was definitely different she thought. Rhodan made the note of not getting too defensive with the Major.

"Your going to be very busy, very soon. I have prepped this padd for you to review our current mission status and goals here in the sector." He tossed the padd her way acrossed the desk. I need you to get your company ready to go in two weeks. Captain Morris was going to take Fox, I decided against it after her interview. And I have just learned our battalion XO is on the way. So we need some quick team building here if it's going to work."

Rhodan snapped the padd from mid air. "Sir, whats planned for the company?"

"Your the Fist formed. You have a scout team and we are working on a Sniper team now. Keep in mind you are getting the best I have available at the moment. Please let me know if there are any issues with who I have assigned to your team. I would focus on straight out Assault at first to see what Fox has for NCO material."

Gifford stood and offered his hand. "I'll be hard on you Captain, now get to work."

Candi smiled and shook his hand. "Yes Sir. I'll keep you in the loop on our progress."

Rhodan left the office. Gifford was glad he had her there. She would drive hard and get the job done he was sure
she would get the job done. A far better choice for command than Captain Morris. Whom he would be seeing as soon as she returned to the station.
