Up To Spec Part II: Modifications

Posted on Wed Aug 12th, 2015 @ 8:32am by Commander Jordan Gunning & Lieutenant Commander Le Austin

Mission: By Dawn's Early Light
Location: USS Montreal - Main Engineering
Timeline: Before 'The Wainwright's Cadets' [BACKPOST]

"I'm sure it will be with you." Gunning smiled before remembering most of the reason he had come down here. "I've been meaning to ask. Are the modifications to the Wainwright's sensors and interior complete?"

"Yessir, ready to roll. These cadets won't know what hit 'em until it's too late," Austin replied with a devious smile. "It should take them a while to decipher what's going on unless you've got someone really smart on the ship," He replied, proudly.

"Well, they're smart kids but hopefully they won't cotton on." Gunning's cadet class had been giving him issues throughout the few weeks they had been with him. Many of them felt compelled to try and convince him to take out the USS Wainwright, clearly sensing his wanderlust. "Give me the rundown then, what have you got in store?"

"Okay, so first thing, while they're heading to their rendezvous points, they'll start noticing power glitches. We can start with minor systems first, then slowly but surely build up. It'll culminate in a catastrophic power failure that'll take everything off line - all the major stuff like sensors, weapons, life support, you name it. I've also got it worked into the script that it will slowly lower the oxygen levels and temperature in the ship as life support 'fails'. It won't go into dangerous levels, but it'll be enough that they'll feel the effect and get that sense of urgency. Our hidey hole will be a-okay, though," He explained with a smile.

"Excellent." Gunning replied with a wicked grin spreading across his face. "Just excellent."
