Mission: By Dawn's Early Light
Location: Main Engineering

The red alert klaxons blared in the hallways of the starbase as civilians rushed to their secure locations aboard the station. The Sojourners had begun their assault in earnest, and now Austin was rushing, just hoping to keep critical systems online.

"Steiner! O'Hara!" He called, running across the floor in engineering, "We've got two major plasma conduits blowing out on deck 46 and 27. We need to get teams up there on fire control before it spreads to other systems," He yelled.

"Aye sir! I am on my way there to attempt repairs then to the other site." Bill commented quickly grabbing a tool kit, as he headed for the door to the lift.

Le turned to the other's nearby, "Tovan, Price, can we reroute power to the structural integrity fields on the dorsal section of the station? We're getting hammered up there!"

"Aye, sir," Price responded. She joined Tovan at the console, where the other woman was already at work. "How bad does it look?"

"It's not good," Alana replied bluntly. We have a lot of power failures throughout the station. It's going to make it difficult to reroute power with major circuits severed. Try bypassing life support in evacuated areas."

Allie gave the raven-haired engineer a concerned look. "Bypass life support? We can't take life support offline."

"Look, it's night like anyone is going to immediately freeze, especially in evacuated zones," Alana answered with a growing impatience. "Besides, if we don't keep structural integrity up, it doesn't matter if we have heat."

It was hard for Allie to argue with that. "Bypassing life support."

On her wristbook, Corrine Steiner studied the plasma grid and its flashing fail points. "Engineering might get cranky with me for this..." She verbally echoed symbol and hologram touchpoint intentions, "Close feed valves, C127, C064, C97... Reroute flows... open D13, F129, R16..." The flash point colors changed from red to yellow. "At least any fires will be starved of fuel." She zoomed out to survey the stardock shell breaches and whispered, "What... a mess!" For a moment, she felt a pulse of symbiotic fear for Jasmine, but then it faded. =/Steiner to Austin... plasma blowouts are isolated. Flows redirected.\=

"That will help greatly!" Bill commented to who ever listened as he entered the lif and headed to deck 46 first after he was done with the repairs then headed to deck 27. "Oh my!" Bill commented in awe at all the damage that he was seeing first hand. He hoped no one was caught there when this junction blew. As he started to work replacing components and other items. He worked as fast as he could to get the main back online. as the base shook from another volley of weapons fire

"Thanks fantastic, Steiner!" Le responded back over the line. "See if you can do anything about the power manifolds on Deck 100 and 98. We're trying to keep the shields up, but we're having a hard time routing power through there. We're going to need to if we're going to keep this anywhere near functional," He explained.

"Bill! How are repairs going on your end?" He asked. "Gimme good news, man! I've got a shortage of it today!"

"so far so good! Sir!" Bill commented quickly. " The repairs are done and ready for the next set of assignments." The doors opened as he just got back on the lift again. as the doors closed.

"Bah! Frak it!" Austin barked all of the sudden, a spray of sparks and slagged metal and plastics falling from a nearby hatch that blew out. "Steiner, belay that last order. That last hit just compromised the primary power coupler on Deck 4. I need both of you up there on that one ASAP! We're going to lose upper shields if they don't stop this onslaught!"

"Wait..." Austin said, watching as the readouts spiked dangerously, "Scratch that, there's no time, hang on."

Austin called back over the line, immediately dropping to work. "Hold on... wait..." His hands were frantically dancing over the console in front of him, rerouting power here, shutting down secondary systems there. "I got it... hold on, I've got it. I'm shutting down power and life support on several of the evacuated decks.... rerouting power through sub-coupler 4 and 7... and.... shutting down primary coupler 4... that should keep us going for a bit longer," He said. "I'm reassigning the heavy load lifters to deck four with a civvie team for repairs," He called over the lines. "Keep hitting those hot spots."

Austin rubbed his forehead and closed his eyes hard for a moment, "Gods damn it, we can't keep this up," He muttered to himself.
