Eight Little Soldier Boys Travelling in Devon...

Posted on Wed Nov 24th, 2010 @ 7:24am by Captain Alexander Gunning & Lieutenant Commander Melissa Daniels M.D. & Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Maddux

Mission: Ten Little Diplomats
Location: Ambassador T'Laarin's Quarters
Timeline: MD02 1930

[ON]

Legat Darlin was far from happy about this situation. "Ambassador T'Laarin. I demand an explanation for Gul Kenta's death!"

"Legate, I must assure you that we currently have no clue what has happened to either your diplomat or our's. We are doing our utmost to ensure that your people are protected from any further attacks while they are on the station."

The Ambassador looked over the table to where Captain Gunning, Lieutenant Tieran and Chief Maddux stood looking concernedly between one another.

"You mean you cannot even keep your own diplomats alive during a peace conference?" He smiled and laughed a bit. "How amusing. How wonderfully amusing. I guess the Maquis are a problem again? Would the Federation like any help putting down this insurrection?" He stated

"It is too early to say whether the Maquis are responsible for this or not. Our earliest indication is that this is far from their Modus Operandi." She said. She knew fine well that the Union would be looking for any excuse to move into the Badlands and put down any Maquis in the area.

"Their 'Modus Operandi' is killing Cardassian diplomats Ambassador." The legate responded. "I am not leaving this base until this assassin is found, so I can have the pleasure of killing this criminal personally. I'll..." Suddenly the viewport behind the legate blew off and the air in the room began to suck out into space. The legate tried to hold onto the desk, with the Vulcan Ambassador watching, but to no avail, Legate Darlin was sucked into space.

Davik moved almost instantly as he felt the beginnings of depressurization making him lightheaded, scrambling over the table toward the panel on the wall and re-sealing the room before anyone began to collapse. He slid down the wall as the viewport force-fields rose up to compensate. "Whoever just did this, knew that we could sustain the force-fields within seconds of Darlin being evacuated. They targeted him." His eyes were narrowed.

Gunning coughed as he hit the floor, his lungs unconvinced that they should be inhaling the vacuum of space. He stumbled over to the viewing port and watched the corpse of the Cardassian float off into space. "Christ."

"Do we have security recordings for this room?" rasped Maddux as he picked himself up.

"Yes," Davik confirmed, resting one of his arms over his knees. "I'll pull the footage and start cross-checking it immediately."

[Some Time Later]

Melissa looked at the viewport. "The killer used a liquid corrosive on the viewport's rim to weaken it to the point of decompression. He timed it perfectly with this meeting."

Davik gave a grimace toward the viewport as he glanced down at the tricorder in his hand. "Judging by the residue acidity the suspect was in here approximately two to three hours ago. The chemical composition of the corrosive suggests it was created by Senjil laboratories. The research labs are Federation based, and anything going in and out of those labs needs to be signed for and certified due to its potential danger." Davik looked down at the readings as he spoke. "I'll talk to the director and see what I can find."
