Beam Out

Mission:
Call of the Wild
Location: Transporter Room
Allie was a flurry of emotion. On one hand, she was nervous about what the next several days we're going to bring. How long were they going to be lost, would they be able to find food and water, and dozens of other thoughts. But at the same time, she was excited about the new experience. She did kind of hate that she had to beam down in her uniform. It seemed like there were better options for spending up to a couple of weeks in the wilderness, but if she was in a real life survival situation, she might not have any other options. It was going to be interesting.
As she rounded the corridor, her thoughts started to drift towards her assigned group. They were going to be doing these exercises in small teams, and she had yet to meet hers. The transporter room was the first time she was going to meet everyone. All she could hope was that it was going to be a good group. She took a deep breath and stepped through the transporter room doors, anxious to see who was already inside.
Jenna had arrived slightly before everyone else, knowing that if she didn't she'd probably end up being late. She turned as she heard the door of the transporter room open. Walking through the doors was the first member of the team. "Morning Lieutenant." She said, nodding at the lady.
Allie turned to face the newcomer, surprised that she was apparently the first to arrive. She smiled at the new person, an ensign in medical blue. "Good morning, Ensign. I don't believe we've met." She extended a hand. "Allie Price. I'm one of the station's engineers."
"Jenna Steel, I'm one of the station's Paramedics, as well as one of the SAR Medics. Glad to meet you, I guess we're on the same team today then." She said, looking around.
"It looks like it," Allie replied. "To be honest, I think I'm the one who ended up with the better deal. If someone got hurt, you'd be a lot more valuable to a survival mission than I would be. But I'm excited about the learning experience."
Waiting in line Major Alexandria Somers had picked 11 marines from her Company to act as extra security and to do recon if needed, she indicated that she would beam down with her Squad, even though the Squad would have to beam down in two groups. Her Squad had minimum of arms on them standard regenerative phaser rifles and a hand phaser each. Somers had only he Commando knife like the rest of the Marines and unlike them her hidden quarterstaff that was collapsible, before too long it would be her turn to beam down.
Erin wanted to be late. Actually, it wasn't exactly that she wanted to be late, more that she held some infantile hope that by dragging her feet, purposefully being distracted by this or that en route, and stopping to check her kit every five metres she might arrive after the rest of the team had beamed out and the officer in charge would send her back to the lab with a polite "Maybe next time, Champ." As the doors to the transporter room slid open, her little fantasy shattered as she beheld her team. And she wasn't even the last one there!
Resolving yet again to accepting her fate, Erin spotted Allie chatting to another blue shirt and set off to join them; at least that was one other person on this glorified camp out that she had met. "Hey," she said to Allie as she approached.
Allie turned and spotted Whitlam entering the transporter room. "Hey, Erin. I wondered if we ended up on the same team. I don't suppose you're any more excited for this now than you were the other day?"
Erin sighed almost theatrically, her shoulders slumping as she rolled her eyes. "Even less excited, if that's possible," she said, before shifting into a smile she directed to Allie. "But I'm trying to think positively about it!"
Brennan entered with a bag slung over his right shoulder, bouncing against his hip as his long strides took him to the group. "Hello" he greeted everyone as he rested his bag on the ground beside his feet.
Looking at the New Arrival "Hi there, Umm?" Somers asked.
"Brennan Lyr, MD. Nice to meet you" he said politely, his earring tinkling at his cheek.
"Same here Doctor, so how long have you been serving on 332?" Somers asked "I am Major Alexandria Somers Company G Commander and I have not long arrived on 332" Somers added introducing herself.
"Been here about a month now, I rather like station life. It's easier to put down roots as the human idiom goes on a station or planetside verses a starship. " his easy smile made him just that much more easy on the eyes. "What would you prefer to be called?"
"On duty Major Somers, on duty but in private Alex same for off duty, I have done a short stint as MCO on a planetside base, sadly the CO vanished I was left holding the bag, I sent a report back to HQ and they decided to close down the new colony, I did not mind as the administration of such a place would have driven me nuts, this is why I have not gone for the now vacant MCO slot, too much hassle and no action, and how would you wish to be addressed int he same settings?" Somers added.
"Doctor Lyr if I am needed professionally. Brennan socially and really any other time I am not picky about rank and title myself. I tend to use the more human naming convention for it is easier when dealing with those not used to Bajoran customs. " His smile was warm as his fingers came up to caress his earring.
Nodding in understanding, "Acknowledged Doctor, will do" Somers finished with a smile.
As the door to the transporter room was closing, Erica slipped into the transporter room as the gap was closing. "Merrrow! I'm here!" Erica gave a soft snarl, followed by a purr of delight at seeing Allie. She looked the others over, letting her tail rubbed Allie's thigh in silent greeting as she joined the group. She was kitted out with a caitian version of a standard Caitian Infantry gear. Load bearing vest with several knives, fleet regulation sidearm with extra power cells, personal first aide kit and the usual other survival knick-knacks for field expeditions; (matches, water purification tablets, poncho, compass).
Allie looked Erica up and down from head to toe. "Uh, I don't think we were supposed to bring any extra gear. Just us. Everything we would be using was to be provided." She looked at the other trainees to confirm. "At least I thought we weren't supposed to bring anything. Did I not get the message?"
A figure shimmered and appeared on the transporter platform. Tanner looked at the group. "Is there a reason you're all standing here?" She asked. "Here's what you're getting yourself into. Alarms have gone off, and you're told to evacuate, The shuttle you get into crashes, you all get out alive but the shuttle is in pieces. Anyone who is carrying survival gear, you get to drop it now. You had to go straight from your duty station to the shuttle. Unless you carry weaponry twenty four hours, unload it. You didn't have time to get to the weapons locker. That includes you Somers and your marines. You're here to offer comfort, you have the skills to deal with whatever comes up, or you wouldn't be a marine. I've taken care of insuring no one will get hurt, but they won't be interfering. It's my voice you'll be following." She knew her marines were setting the stage while she was here. "So let's move out." She stood near the stairs to the transporter, checking what people were carrying as they moved onto the pad.
Allie was relieved that she hadn't forgot to pack her own survival gear, but at the same time the Lieutenant's words got her anxiety going. She had been excited and nervous about this exercise, but now she was starting to feel a bit flustered, something she knew she needed to deal with fast. She took slow, deep breaths before stepping onto the transporter pad, steeling herself up for the coming adventure.
Erica shrugged and stepped onto the transporter pad. "All shuttles have basic survival kits and weapons on them. And I don't crash... unless its to sleep." She muttered to holographic. Eyes a glitter with excitement for a change of pace in her daily routine.
"Then you should hope that, that section of the shuttle didn't burn up or fall off," Tanner answered, hearing Erica's statement as she passed.
Next on the transporters was members of G Company who when ready were beamed out, making way for the next batch to be transported.
Lyr snorted and shook his head at the commands- this was certainly going to be interesting. Was he going to be treating wounds with herbs and sewing people up with thread like ancients? How delightfully historic.
Tanner stepped onto the transporter padd with the last of the stragglers, noting that several more stragglers all marines bolted for the transporter padd. Communication Specialist Gunnery Sergeant Aileen Campbell , E Company Commander Captain Calwalla Bulgandramine, Sergeant Major Alison Campbell F Company Sniper, and H Company Warrant Officer Abbey Campbell one of the M-705 Maintenance Technician. "Attach yourselves to G Company for this course and we'll discuss why you're A late B suddenly decided to join and C carry weapons which have come from the weapons locker, which you can now drop and only keep what you normally carry 24/7." Tanner indicated once they had unloaded they step onto the padd, and they were beamed down.
