Five Little Soldier Boys Going in for Law

Posted on Sat Feb 19th, 2011 @ 8:56am by Lieutenant Commander Melissa Daniels M.D. & Captain Alexander Gunning & Commander Dietrich Reinhart & Captain Liarra Von & Lieutenant Commander Nilani Prax

Mission: Ten Little Diplomats
Location: Ambassador T'Laarin's Quarters
Timeline: Current

[ON]

The Ambassador was having difficulty in controlling her emotions. The issues of the last few days and then to have the diplomatic issues of the Cardassian delegations problem with the Federation. She had never come across such ignorant, stubborn people in all her days as an Ambassador.

Suddenly, the Room went dark, and a man's voice spoke in the quarters. "Greetings Ambassador."

T'Laarin's spine shuddered as she desperately tried to keep the fear that shot through her head in check. She reached under the first layer of her robes to press her commbadge.

"The combadge will not help you Ambassador, do you think I wouldn't have dealt with that little issue?" The voice questioned.

"I imagine that you would have. Still- I also suppose that my impending death does demand some desperate action." The Ambassador removed her hand and placed them flat on the desk. "Why are you doing this?"

"The diplomats are dead because they had to be judged for their crimes." He noted.

"The deceased have committed no crimes,"

"It was a crime to abandon the Federation's citizenry on the border, and it was not done for peace, it was done for careers and prestige. To get Federation Counselor's re-elected. So that the Gul's involved would become legates, and so the common man was crushed by the bureaucracy on both sides. The ambitious and the powerful tearing the common man's heart out, and that is worse than an assassination." He noted. "That is betrayal. Tickle us, do we not laugh? Prick us, do we not bleed? Wrong us, shall we not revenge." He spoke again, "You will die Ambassador, but it will be slowly, so you can give Dr. Melissa Daniels a message. 'We are both the same.'" T'Laarin had a dart prick her neck.

The poison began to course through the veins of the Vulcan. She was quite sure of the abilities of the assassin- there was no way that her heightened constitution could save her life. "How long?"

A figure emerged from the darkness and placed a hypospay on the Ambassador's neck. "We all die Ambassador, but this is not your time." She injected the antidote into the Vulcan's neck.

"So, you found me." Another figure emerged in the room. Deactivating a personal camoflage system. "Do you not realize Melissa Daniels, you and I are the same."

Melissa stared at a young man. "Yes, we're both victims. Victims of a terrible crime. We're both victims of people who were willing to use us as tools. I realized this when Starfleet Intelligence forced me to work for them. You don't have to be a tool."

"Silence!! There is only the mission!! There is only the Colony!!!" Melissa spoke again. "The Colony is dead. We have no purpose. Any more than what we give ourselves. Are you willing to be a weapon for those who's hate knows no bounds? It was hate that made us."

"What is your name?"

"Raphael.." He mentioned.

The Security personnel stood in the doorway, flabberghasted as to why nobody had fired yet. It would have been simple to just vapourise this scumbag right here. They held their phaser rifles trained on the man.

Melissa spoke, "Hold! Wait outside!!"

"Doctor..."

"I said, wait outside!" Melissa stated.

The security personnel backed away.

Melissa spoke, "We are not tools. We are not chattel. Those who decided to reduce us to assassins are guilty of an even greater crime; assassinating us. We were the first that they murdered, do you not realize? And with every one afterward, it only reinforced how they controlled us."

Raphael spoke, "Yes, I understand. But why? Why in the god's name of hell, are these people still alive? These people who gave our homes to the Cardassians. I may be able to forgive them, but I will never forgive these things."

"You don't think I do not remember. The pain I felt when the Cardassians would raid our homes, and rape us. I cannot forgive both either, but they are not worth it." Melissa stated.

"You may have abandoned your anger Melissa, but you will never abandon your hate. I have been consumed wholly by anger and hate. I will never be free. You may kill me now, end the nightmare of my life, I beg you."

Melissa sighed. "I cannot kill you." She mentioned, "You must seek redemption for your sins."

He drew his gun and placed it toward his head. "There is no redemption for me." He pulled the trigger. Raphael dropped to the ground.

Gunning had heard the calls from security and the chatter going around the station. He burst through the door with the security personnel following close behind. "What happened?"

Melissa spoke, "He wasn't strong enough." She mentioned as she turned away from the Assassin's body.

"He... he... killed himself." The Ambassador managed to offer. She was visibly shaken. If the circumstances had been different Gunning might have been inclined to watch her reactions in greater detail. "Th- thank you Doctor."

Melissa stopped. "I didn't do it for you Ambassador. I did it for him. I wanted to show him the way out of darkness. Even though he would've spent the rest of his life in prison, his soul would've been saved. He may have killed, yes. But the Diplomatic Corps played a role in his creation. Are you naive enough to believe that the Diplomatic Corps exists to promote peace and well-being? If that is so, then the Maquis, or the Broken Spears, would've never existed. It is because there are cruel people in this universe, ones who existed only for themselves or their careers. And he was the indirect victim of it, along with thousands of colonists along the Demilitarized zone. Yes, Ambassador. There are cruel people in your midst. Consider this tragic affair a painful lesson, and your life, a chance at redemption." She then left without another word.

"Move the Ambassador to a new set of quarters and get her looked over by a doctor and a counselor. Get a medical team down here to move the body to the morgue." Gunning ordered as he took off after the doctor. As he caught up to her he caught her eye.

"I don't know if I'll ever forgive the Diplomats or the Conspirators for what they did. But I am willing to offer them the chance for redemption." Melissa stated. "As for myself, I will continue to seek redemption."

"You saved that woman's life today, Melissa." The Captain said. "We have his handler in custody and whether it went the way you thought it would, lives have been saved."
