Arrival

Posted on Mon Jun 13th, 2016 @ 11:44pm by Lieutenant Commander Tyler Vorran & Lieutenant JG Liam Harrison

Mission: Brave New World
Location: Vorran's Folly
Timeline: Current

Tyler sat at the controls of his shuttle as it streaked through space at warp speed. Tyler and Liam were on their way to their new posting in the galactic south. Tyler looked over to his fiancée who was staring at an open access panel with a look of horror on his face.

"Well, this is certainly an...interesting death trap," Liam said as he slammed the compartment shut and looked over to Tyler. "Where'd you get this thing anyway?" he asked as he stood up and dusted himself off. He took one more look around to see if there was anything else he could think of improving while he was there, but he'd already spent the entire trip bringing the shuttle up to the bare minimum for safety standards. He plopped himself down in the seat next to Tyler, tilted his head back and then to his side, giving Tyler a smile.

"I used to run with a crew of smugglers before starfleet. I used my earnings to purchase this death trap as you call it." Vorran replied

"Interesting..." Liam said as he crossed his hands behind his head and turned to look at the passing stars. "Well, once we get to the station, I'll see about getting some new tech for her and giving her a retrofit. There is a lot of outdated stuff here that could really use some attention."

"It's not much to look at but it gets me where I want to go." Tyler replied as he made his way over to Liam.
Tyler put his hands on Liam's shoulders and gave him a gentle massage. "I'm no engineer but I'm sure you can do something with my death trap."

"Yeah, I probably can. Right now it's basically just a torpedo with a warp drive and life support, but once I'm done with it, it'll be a luxury shuttle," Liam told Tyler as he slowly closed his eyes. "How much longer do we have?" he asked.

"Provided we don't loose antimatter containment, we should be approaching Starbase 332 in a few minutes." Tyler replied as he continued to rub Liam's shoulders.

Liam smiled as he turned his head back to Tyler and opened his eyes. "So this is it, huh? New station, new jobs, new life - and the best part is, we're doing it together."

"Exactly, we don't have to worry about hand to hand combat with the Gorn or a CO that's colder than a Breen." Tyler said.

Liam shrugged, "Yeah, and that damn counselor," he said laughing. "We won't have her to punch you in the nuts anymore." He nodded his head as he looked to the other side, examining the a control panel of the shuttle. "Anyway, I think station life will be good for us. Calm, peaceful, and I hear that the planet below is the perfect weekend getaway."

"I may have arranged for the counselor's sonic shower to have a malfunction before we left." Tyler said snickering. "I also agree that the planet below will be a good getaway spot. Maybe we can build a house down there if it's nice enough."

Liam let out a laugh, "Good, she deserved it." Feeling content with how they left the Tornado, he thought about the prospect of building a house on the planet below. He shrugged at the idea, it was intriguing, to say the least. If frightened him a little bit, the idea that one day he wouldn't be working with Starlfeet anymore and he'd be settling down somewhere to live out the rest of his days. He didn't want to think about that, though. "Yeah, maybe," he said softly. "We'll see. We need to get there first," he said with a smile.

The ship shudders as Tyler takes the ship out of warp. The lights and consoles flicker briefly, a loud groaning sound coming from the hull. "We're here now." Tyler said smacking the flickering console.

Before the station could acknowledge their presence, Liam opened up a channel with the station. "Starbase 332 this is Lieutenant JG Liam Harrison aboard...Vorran's Folly..." he said. "We request permission to dock."

A voice comes from the console. "This is starbase 332, you are cleared to land on pad.... Do you require assistance? We are reading some power fluctuations."

Liam looked over to Tyler and paused the link. "I think we should shut off our engines and let the Station take us in. I'm not sure we have the right thruster capability to handle this maneuver on your own."

"We made it this far and the engines are still online." Tyler said
Just then some sparks flew from an access panel behind them and the hum of the engines abruptly stopped.

Tyler looked at Liam hoping he wouldn't say I told you so.

Liam kept quiet and just gave Tyler a small smile. He then pressed a button on the control panel and began to speak, "Starbase 332, we are shutting down our engines and preparing to come in under your control." Liam sighed as he stood up and headed to look at the damage that was done to the shuttle.

"This shuttle has been sitting in storage for a while, it wasn't in the best of shape when I purchased it." Tyler said

Liam nodded and sucked his teeth before looking back at Tyler, "Yup." He laughed and sighed as he went back over to the chair next to Tyler. "Well, I have all week to worry about this."

"I guess we have to figure out something to do while we wait for them to get us." Tyler replied as he put his arms around Liam from behind.
